Titanic mission aims to map wreck in unprecedented detail

Image
A team of experts is gearing up for a groundbreaking mission to map the wreck of the Titanic in the greatest detail ever attempted. Departing from Providence, Rhode Island, the team will utilize cutting-edge technology to capture high-resolution images of every inch of the iconic ship, in order to gain new insights into its tragic sinking. This expedition marks the first commercial mission to the Titanic since last year's OceanGate tragedy, where five individuals lost their lives while attempting to explore the wreck. New JRE Episode Reveals Shocking Discovery at the Grand Canyon That Has Global Implications – Video

Image
The video titled JRE: What Scientists Just Discovered At The Grand Canyon TERRIFIES The Whole World delves into the mind-blowing discovery of ancient Egyptian artifacts within the Grand Canyon. Joe Rogan and his guest reveal a fascinating tale of ancient Egyptians possibly reaching the Grand Canyon before Christopher Columbus set foot on the American continent in 1492. Scientists Alarmed by Post-Death Phenomenon – Video

Image
Scientists are continually baffled by the mysteries that surround what happens after we die. The concept of Consciousness, the essence of our being, remains a puzzle that challenges both science and philosophy. The idea of an afterlife, a realm that exists beyond death, has captivated humans for centuries, with various cultures and religions offering different perspectives on what lies beyond. Near-death experiences provide intriguing glimpses into the possibility of Consciousness persisting after death, with individuals reporting vivid and transformative encounters during moments close to death. The intersection of quantum physics and...... Read Full article on HadNews

Wildlife selfies harm animals − even when scientists share images with warnings in the captions

Image
One of the biggest privileges of being a primatologist is spending time in remote locations with monkeys and apes, living near these animals in their habitats and experiencing their daily lives. As a 21st-century human, I have an immediate impulse to take pictures of these encounters and share them on social media. Social media can help scientists raise awareness of the species we study, promote their conservation and obtain jobs and research funding. However, sharing images of wild animals online can also contribute to illegal animal trafficking and harmful human-wildlife interactions. For endangered or threatened species, this atten...... How scientists are working to make DNA repair (almost) a piece of cake

Image
I have always been fascinated by genetics, a branch of biology that helps explain everything from the striking resemblance between different members of a family to the fact that strawberry plants are frost-resistant. It’s an impressive field! I also have a personal connection to genetics. Growing up, I learned that members of my family had a form of muscular dystrophy called dysferlinopathy. I watched as my mother gradually lost the ability to climb stairs and had to use a cane, then a walker, and finally a wheelchair to get around. Her leg muscles were less and less able to repair themselves and became weaker with time. My parents ex...... Read Full article on HadNews

Scientists Warn of Another Record Seaweed Blob Threatening Florida This Year

Image
Scientists are alerting the public of a record sargassum accumulation in the remote Central Atlantic, close to the Caribbean Sea’s oceanic border, driven by unpredictable winds, currents, and storms. This week, researchers from the University of South Florida reported that the amount of prickly pelagic fauna measured in December—roughly 5 million metric tons—was significantly more than the amount recorded at the same time last year, which was about 1 million metric tons. “Although we predicted an increase in the November bulletin, the magnitude of this growth is notable, with the December 2023 abundance rep...... Scientists scrutinize happiness research

Image
We all want to be happy — and for decades, psychologists have tried to figure out how we might achieve that blissful state. The field’s many surveys and experiments have pointed to a variety of approaches, from giving stuff away to quitting Facebook to forcing one’s face into a toothy grin. But psychology has undergone serious upheaval over the last decade, as researchers realized that many studies were unreliable and unrepeatable. That has led to a closer scrutiny of psychological research methods, with the study of happiness no exception. So — what really makes us happy? Under today’s more careful microscope, some routes to happiness seem ...... Read Full article on HadNews
